Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids was one of the first venues I got to photograph a wedding at, back in 2018. Now, a full FIVE years later, I felt so nostalgic being back at this venue and proud of the knowledge I have acquired since that first ever wedding.
A fun rabbit trail: the 2018 wedding I worked at Watermark is one of my oldest clients. For this one family, I have done three weddings, two engagements, three boudoir sessions, and five family sessions over the years! Not to mention an upcoming 2024 wedding in their family! I love getting to be a part of every big milestones for my clients.
These lovebirds had an intimate elopement in August 2022, but still planned this special wedding day this year to celebrate their union with their family and friends.
Kendra was referred to me by her sis in law, Dominique. I had the joy of being Dominique’s photographer for her wedding in February 2022 and briefly met Dan and Kendra there. Since that first meeting with Kendra, I’ve captured her boudoir photos, the couple’s engagement, elopement, and now their big wedding reception. It’s been so special to witness such big moments in their story together!
Kendra and Dan’s reception day had me in awe! From getting ready with Kendra and her girls to partying on the dance floor, this day was full of memorable moments that I had a blast capturing. I especially loved all of Kendra’s bridal portraits. She looked like she just stepped out of a fairy tale!
“I’ve been lucky to have been able to work with Phern for a couple different shoots; our engagement photos, our elopement ceremony, and the latest being our wedding reception. The best thing about working with her is how comfortable she makes you feel, and how you can give her your vision, and she will make it come to life. At the last second, I told her I wanted a “Taylor Swift- Love Story” moment. She took that small phrase and absolutely delivered that moment for me.
Of all the galleries I’ve received from Phern, my wedding reception was the one I was anticipating the most. My sneak peaks were amazing, and I just knew from those that my gallery was going to be perfect. And it was. It was everything I wanted it to be. The photos with my husband are ones I will look back at 50 years from now and still be in love with them and still get butterflies when I think of how perfect our day was. And we have Phern to thank for that.
We feel really grateful to have crossed paths with Phern. Her art is proudly on display in our home and as we grow our family we hope to continue to work with her. “
To the newlyweds: thank you for allowing me to be a part of your love story.
To the other couples out there: give me a ring! I’d be honored to photograph your love story next!
