Hannah and Andrew’s engagement session was the perfect mix of romance, personality, and city magic. As a Chicago wedding photographer, I always love when couples bring me into spaces that feel true to who they are, and these two nailed it. We created a little tour of their favorite spots in the city, blending iconic landmarks with hidden corners to tell their story in a way that felt both timeless and fun. If you’re searching for the best engagement photos locations in Chicago, this session is a great example of how to make the city your backdrop without ever losing focus on you.
Nederlander Theatre + The “L” Tracks
We started at the Nederlander Theatre, which was a nod to Hannah and Andrew’s love for theater. The historic marquee and dramatic city vibes set the tone beautifully. From there, we walked a few blocks and ducked under the “L” train tracks (stopping in front of pretty architecture along the way) and honestly, these ended up being some of my favorite images. Using long exposure, I was able to capture the rush of city life while keeping the couple as the clear focus. It’s a style that speaks perfectly to Chicago itself: vibrant, alive, and full of movement.
Wrigley Building + Espresso Martinis
Next, we stopped at the Wrigley Building, an iconic spot and one of my go-to Chicago locations for engagement photos. Even though it was packed with tourists and commuters, I worked the angles and timing to deliver clean, gorgeous frames that looked like it was just the three of us there. We made sure to get shots in front of the gold doors, and then the couple surprised me by pulling out espresso martinis for a fun toast along the river. Those playful, spontaneous moments are exactly why I love prompt-based posing. It keeps the energy high and lets my couples be fully themselves.
North Avenue Beach
We saved the best spot for last: North Ave Beach. It was peak volleyball season, so yes, it was packed, but that’s where experience matters. I knew how to navigate the crowd and use composition tricks so the focus stayed on Hannah and Andrew while still capturing the sweeping skyline behind them. This spot is one of my favorites in the city because it offers it all: beachfront access, panoramic views, and those dreamy shades of blue that pop so beautifully with my true-to-life editing style.
Why It Matters
Sessions like this remind me why I love being a Chicago wedding photographer. It’s not just about the pretty backdrops (though Chicago has plenty of those!). It’s about capturing your personality, your laughter, and the real joy of being together. All without stiff posing or forced smiles. With these two, the entire day felt like an adventure, and their gallery reflects exactly that.
I cannot wait to celebrate their wedding in Chicago this December — it’s going to be one for the books.
