Chicago Engagement Session | Natalie & Michael
I recently had the pleasure of photographing Natalie and Michael’s engagement session on a windy day in the Windy City! I’m always up to the trip from my home base in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the beautiful city of Chicago for a wedding or session. Over the years, I’ve become quite familiar with the city and have three favorite engagement session locations that provide the perfect photo backdrops! With Natalie and Michael, we explored all three spots throughout their session.

Even with the wind and cold, Natalie and Michael’s love for each other warmed up every photo! Would you believe they’ve been together for a whopping SEVEN years? Their connection was so evident, making the shoot a breeze.
The pair are planning an intimate wedding at a Michigan lake house. So, they opted for engagement photos with a more “big city” vibe! Chicago, specifically, holds a special place in their hearts because it’s where they currently call home.
For the session, I absolutely adored how Natalie incorporated hot pink into her outfit. The bright color was a fantastic contrast against the clean buildings of Wrigley, and it popped against the blue hues at North Ave. I love how much a client can make their photos more personal with details as simple as their outfits!
Chicago, once again, proved to be the ideal urban backdrop for an engagement session. We ventured to three of my favorite spots:
– Wrigley Building area
– Lincoln Park Zoo
– North Ave Beach
All three locations have an urban oasis vibe, surrounded by both the skyscrapers and the sea. Whenever I shoot in the city, these spots are my top picks. Just one glance at Natalie and Michael’s enchanting photos will show you exactly why!
