Grand Rapids Studio Boudoir: My Approach.
Brii has been one of my clients since I decided to become a photographer in Grand Rapids. She has hired me for her engagement session, elopement, TWO boudoir sessions, and I actually have hung out with her (we got tacos and new piercings).
In my book, boudoir photography is so much more than showing off your body; boudoir a celebration of your relationship with yourself. Boudoir is about empowerment, sensuality, and self-love! In my approach to boudoir, I set out to capture your unique beauty and give you a gallery of photos that inspire you to love your body in an entirely new way.
However, let me be clear: “boudoir” does NOT have to mean “naked”. Boudoir means empowerment, finding confidence, and loving your body, which looks different for each person. We can do boudoir on all kinds of levels, and, most importantly, based on YOUR comfort. Only feel comfy in t-shirt and panties? OK. Want to do jeans and a button down? I can work with that. Are you more conservative and only want to do a sexy dress but covered? I can be creative. Want to be in your birthday suit covered with a sheet? I promise, it’s not weird! There is no one-size-fits-all approach to boudoir. Every session is as unique as the beauties I capture.
One of my favorite parts about my boudoir sessions is that, through the lens, I have witnessed my clients transform into their most confident and beautiful selves. I know it can feel weird to start and posing can be tricky. However, once I show the client a few photos on the back of my camera, I see them start to embrace their bodies and embrace their own sensuality. It’s truly such a beautiful thing to witness!
I encourage all women to try a boudoir session for themselves. The photos often turn into a treasured gift of new-found self-confidence. For my clients, every boudoir session is shared in a secure gallery and I would NEVER post anything without your consent. These photos are for YOU alone!
