I took a trip to Colorado a couple years ago where I got to hang out with some of my favorite people shooting an elopement styled shoot at Garden of the Gods. My friends were super enthusiastic about doing a destination elopement styled shoot since they were getting married that following year. We ended up at this breathtaking location in Colorado Springs that truly felt like a dream. Honestly, I could’ve taken photos there forever!
I reached out to Renee at Timeless Bridal Boutique to see if we could team up. She was so excited to get involved, and it really set the tone for the whole experience. I was able to bring a couple different gown options with me from her shop. Plus, I contacted Nicole from House of Petalis, my friends’ future florist, to brainstorm some ideas. She was all in and brought so much creativity to the table! Having such talented people on board made things flow effortlessly. I feel really lucky to have those collaborations come together.
Now, I’ll be real:
Hair and makeup aren’t my strong points, but I gave it a shot for this shoot. I also gathered up some accessories and jewelry to tie everything together. We snagged a suit from Macy’s, praying for the best. Once everything came together, the actual shooting felt so natural. I aimed for real colors and movement, making sure to preserve those incredible red rocks. Obviously capturing candid moments along with some magazine-worthy editorial poses, too. Even though it was a styled shoot, you can totally see how in love my friends are.
Being able to create something surrounded by beauty and great company was a highlight for me. There’s just something magical about being at Garden of the Gods.
